The Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and Bruce D. Schneider, Ph.D, MCC, founder of The Core Energy Coaching™, has masterfully defined various areas of coaching.
Based on their definitions, below are my areas of coaching specialization.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT – Personal Development Coaching includes not only a wide variety of different areas in one’s life, but also embraces life. Wherever you are in your life, there is always an opportunity for growth, as that is the process of life’s journey.
All Personal Development work will first focus on inner transformation, as that is the basis for true and lasting growth. When you believe you have the power to create the life you want to create, then our coaching partnership will be very effective. Remember, we have the power over our life and we are able to take control of our lives.
“The greatest gift Life could have made to you is yourself.
You are a spontaneous, self-choosing center of Life, in the great drama of
being, the great joy of becoming, the certainty of eternal expansion.”

FUN AND CREATIVITY – In our lives, the idea of enjoyment seems to have taken the “back seat” to the idea of “getting ahead.” We seem to always focus on what to do versus how to be. In order to live a balanced life, we have to include some fulfilling recreation. We know there is benefits and transformational potential on all levels of spending time each day doing something fun especially when it’s not associated with work or responsibilities. Fun means fun!
Many people are too stressed out to even entertain the idea of having some fun in their lives. Taking the time to stop and reflect upon what is going on is the first step to recreating a life where fun and enjoyment are in balance with everything else.

“Most of us experience very little fun or adventure in our lives.
We save it for vacations or special holidays.
But fun is a necessary part of a whole life and has a positive,
powerful impact on your health and well-being.”
Cheryl Richardson – Take Time for Your Life

CAREER DEVELOPMENT – Who we are determines what we do and how we do it. What we do is not as important as how we do it. Even more important than both, however, is who we are as we do what we do. A Duke University study proved that job satisfaction was the number one priority that people have in life, and so, by not being fulfilled in this area, all other areas of life are adversely affected.
Coaching helps you understand how important self-expression and work fulfillment are as key roles in your state of balance. Coaching also helps you uncover the belief behind why you work (to find inner values or those that are missing) in order to help you create the outer experience of your choosing.
“The job of expressing love, wisdom, and abundance in a creative way is yours as long as you want it. You have seniority. No one is better at being you than you are. You have no rivals, no competition. The universe is forever unfolding uniquely through you. Every situation at work is an opportunity to explore your beliefs about prosperity and life and to make a personal statement about those beliefs. Because you’re part of creation, you are valuable. You play a vital, far reaching role in the universe. You are needed. You got the job. Congratulations!”

RELATIONSHIPS – Could any of us really experience the fullness of life without relationships? Relationships are beautiful gifts we all enjoy on life’s journey. They bring us much joy, and sometimes much pain. Still, we would not be able to grow without them.
Without relationships, we would have no mirror to see ourselves. We would not have a sounding board against which to base our own experiences. The people in our life give us clues as to what we believe about ourselves. Hopefully, they are mirroring how much we express our real self.
The first relationship to develop is the one with our own selves. When we are in a right relationship with ourselves, we can then enjoy and value other relationships for what they truly offer. Instead of coming from need and lack, we can realize that our relationships are gifts, helping us to relate to others in an empowering way.
“Learning to love yourself, that is the greatest love of all…”
George Benson
